Prayer Requests for Sunday September 20, 2015

  • Donna R. asks us to remember her mom who has had a severe stroke in our prayers. She is now in Hospice care. UPDATE - Her mom died in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
  • Peggy B. asks that we continue to remember her brother, George, in our prayers.
  • Debbie G. asks that we continue to remember her grandmother, Josephine M. in our prayers.
  • Kim C is still in the hospital, but may be coming home this week.
  • Rosa H asks us to pray for her nephew who has been diagnosed with stage four cancer.
  • Melanie, former in-law of Patty C., is recovering from brain surgery.
  • The Pastor asks for us to remember his stepfather, Herbert M in our prayers. He has been hospitalized with internal bleeding. UPDATE: bleeding under control but source not found.
  • Please remember David B in your prayers. He has stage four cancer. There will be a benefit in his honor on Saturday September 26th at Central High School in Wise. The UVA Bluegrass Band and the Wise Men from UVA will be playing.
  • Angie C gave thanks for the special needs ball that was held last night at Coeburn Middle School. A total of 101 families were present and many, many volunteers. It made a special night for the children.
  • Paul C, asks us to remember Evan C in our prayers. He is delivering the message this morning at Trinity UMC in Clintwood. Paul has also been selected as a national rep for The Learning Station at an upcoming event.
  • Jannette K, has a friend with a 14 year old son that has been diagnosed with brain cancer the chemo has been especially hard for him. This same friend also has an 11 year old son with diabetes.
  • Dottie A. has asked for prayers for Carol and Mark. He has a leg infection and she has and eye infection. He will be facing surgery tomorrow.
  • UPDATE: John H had to have an emergency appendectomy on Monday night. He is now at home and recovering.

  • Debbie G. asks us to continue to remember her grandmother, Josephine M.
  • Please keep Kim C in your prayers. She is in the ICU
  • Please pray for Cindy A as she is having some mobility issues.
  • Rosa H asks for us to pray for her nephew, Dick P. He has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer at various locations in his body.
  • Paul C, asks for us to remember his sister, Becky. She is recovering from cancer and now they have discovered that her heart valves are leaking.
  • Don S reports that his is a new grandfather. His son Eric and his wife had a 5 lb 2 oz baby boy on August 25th
  • Cindy A raised a concern about an upcoming meeting in our area that could have an adverse effect upon mining. Please pray for this situation.
  • Jan T rejoices that Beth H is now back working part time.
  • Paula B. gives thanks for all the cards, calls, visits, and food at the time of her nephew's recent death.
  • Melanie S., a former in-law of Patty C, undergoing brain surgery related to meningitis
  • Pray for the family of John M, a veteran who has passed away

  • Continue to pray for Peggy B's brother George
  • Continue to pray for Debbie G's grandmother, Josephine M
  • Continue to pray for Brownie P, Barbara reports that he is still in the hospital. UPDATE-He left the hospital on Tuesday and went back to a skilled care facility.
  • Debbie G wants us to pray for a co-worker. Doctors have found another spot of cancer on the brain of Janice T's husband. Also, previous treatments have stopped growth of other tumors, but have not shrunk the tumors.
  • Cindy A wants us to pray for a co-worker. Donna M was diagnosed with a severe cancer 6 months ago. The treatments have produced a lot of side effects and their end date continues to get pushed further and further into the future.
  • Dell W reported that she and Jack will be great grandparents in March. Jeremy and his wife, who just adopted 2 children, are now expecting a child.



You are invited to the church each Wednesday night for a time of prayer. The Prayer Team meets at 6:00 pm. The prayers mentioned above are only the ones mentioned on Sunday during worship. There are many other persons and situations for which we are praying. Your presence would strengthen our prayers.

  • Continue to pray for Josephine M (Debbie's grandmother) she will have to leave rehab and the family is not sure they can take care of her at home.
  • Continue to remember the family of Anthony L. at the time of his death this past week.
  • Please remember a friend of many in the congregation-Clara B. -- who has died from cancer.
  • Please remember George G. the brother of Peggy B. He is in need of a pace maker, but due to his condition they are unable to put the device in. He has bee referred to hospice.
  • Continue to remember Brownie P. as he is still in the hospital in Abingdon. Also, continue to remember Barbara and the rest of the family in your prayers.
  • Rick G. asks that we continue to remember David B. in our prayers. He has cancer and is the dad of one of Rick's UVA Wise students.
  • Nancy K. asks that we would remember her sister Wilma in our prayers. Her health continues to deteriorate.
  • We rejoice that Steve P. is back in church following his recent surgery and that he will be going back to work this week.
  • We rejoice that Sandra R is in church today and that she seems to be recovering from her treatments.
  • Kim P asks that we keep her in our prayers as she battles some issues with her throat.
  • Christy S asks us to keep her mom, Judy P, in our prayers. She has been suffering from dizziness due to a low heart rate and will need to wear a monitor for a couple of weeks.
  • John H rejoiced that his son Jessie was able to come in for 5 days. It was the first chance that he had to see his mom since March.
  • Dell W rejoiced in the celebration of her only remaining sibling, a brother's, birthday.
