THANK YOU FOR
YOUR SUPPORT!

For several years now our church has been actively collecting food items for the Union Primary School weekend Back Pack Food program. We did not start this program. Teachers from the school, several years ago, noticed children coming in on Monday morning hungry. They came up with the idea of sending some a bag of simple to serve food items with children each Friday. Through the years, the program has grown to the point that more than 80 children currently take one of these food bags home.

As a single church, we are not able to supply enough food to feed that many children. In the fall of 2017, our church reached out to the churches of our community and we have formed a coalition of churches and community groups that now supply, on a monthly basis, a standardized set of food items for this program. Each participating groups collects a different item each month. The school receives a standardized supply each month and the children have food for the weekend.

Here is the Union Primary School Food List for 2020 that is to be collected by our Church:

Jan—Breakfast Cereal (Small bulk bag 7-9 servings)
Feb—Single Serve Fruit (Pears, Peaches, or Fruit Cocktail)
Mar—Mac n Cheese (Individual servings)
Apr - Juice Boxes (Apple or Grape)
May- Juice Boxes (Apple or Grape)
Jun--Cash Donations
Jul --Cash Donations
Aug--Soup (Chicken Noodle or Tomato)
Sep—Chef Boy Ardee (Spaghettios or Ravioli)
Oct—Ramen Noodles (Chicken or Beef)
Nov—Breakfast Bars  (Apple/Cinnamon or Strawberry)
Dec—Juice Boxes (Apple or Grape)

Cash donations are worth $.12 more on the dollar due to tax exempt status plus the ability to buy bulk.  The donations are used to stock the food pantry for the start of school.

If you would like to participate in this program, then simply bring your food items to church and place them under the car port or bring them the first Wednesday of every month.   Cash donations can be left in the drop box in the church alley way.  We will take the items to the school.

Any questions can be directed to Phil Robbins at (276) 393-2251.
